Nadin-West Joinery is one of the most reputable locally owned companies in Newcastle for commercial and residential projects, they custom build all products on site at their factory and office located in Bennetts Green, NSW.
The award winning kitchen recently won the 2011 HIA Hunter Valley Kitchen Project of the Year over $35,000. Plus, winning the major prize of HIA Kitchen Project of the year.
This kitchen compliments its beautiful surroundings and adjacent rooms. It is extremely functional and appealing. Outstanding quality clearly demonstrates the use of modern technology and materials. 12mm Corian® Glacier White is used on the benchtops to compliment the aesthetics of the space, plus the stainless steel undermount sink is professionally finished with a sleek 12mm Corian® Glacier White benchtop edge.
The key reason for selecting Corian® for this kitchen was to acheive a seamless look, easy to clean surface and deliver smooth flowing curves that would integrate into the space. With the advantage of thermoforming Corian® into curves, it delivered the desired result of seamless curves into the island benchtop design including 60mm thick edges. Moreover, adding the design element of waterfall ends which includes a waterfall edge running parallel with the curved bar back panels on the island bench with a seamless return back into the benchtop overhang further enhanced the kitchen space.
According to Nadin-West designer Justin Merry, the use of Corian® ticked all the boxes for this design and met the client's requirements. Another key element of the design brief from the client was to deliver a benchtop with a product surface that was easy to clean and hygienic with a warmer softer feel than natural granite. Lastly, the client wanted a modern kitchen with a white clean look to compliment the seamless easy flow of this curved designed kitchen space. Corian® Glacier White was the perfect fit in this case with its crisp clean solid white appearance!
Congratulations to Justin Merry and the team at Nadin-West Joinery!

Opened in October 2011 by the Rt Hon. Lord Major Ms Lisa Scaffidi on behalf of the City of Perth, this public amenities upgrade project evokes a sense of surprise and delight, adding a vibrant unexpected layer to the Perth Cultural Centre Precinct.
Coniglio Ainsworth Architects saw a greater opportunity for the project than the initial upgrade brief suggested and have provided a sense of connection with the Cultural precinct beyond by careful sculpting of the views of the surrounding site and cleverly funneling of natural light into the spaces.
Another key feature is the inclusion of nine artworks which were selected from the Western Australian State Art collection and the City of Perth art collection with all images being generously provided courtesy of the artists or their estates.
Corian® has been extensively used to clad/sculpt the walls, ceilings, skylights and bench tops within all of the public amenity areas. The complex faceted geometry enhances the play of light in the spaces and Corian® was the ideal material for achieving a seamless connection between the wall, ceiling and skylight surfaces.
Nicknamed the “Loouvre” by the design team the project represents an excellent collaboration between the City of Perth, the Art Gallery of Western Australia and Coniglio Ainsworth Architects.
Corian® was the ideal material for achieving a seamless connection between the complex faceted geometry of the wall, ceiling and skylight surfaces. It was also selected because it is a resilient product that is easy to clean and maintain in this highly public environment.
According to the team at Coniglio Ainsworth Architects, 'The faceted geometry of the wall, ceiling and skylight surfaces is intended to enhance the play of both natural and artificial lighting in the spaces and this was enhanced with the use of Cameo White Corian® '.

ONE ELEVEN has emerged from a 1970s office tower which has been given a long overdue aesthetic and functional upgrade, with little being done to the building since its last major refurbishment in the late 1980s.
The fit-out of the lobby involved blurring the boundaries between ‘lobby’ and external spaces with the point of focus being the lift core. The lift core has been clad in crystalline-shaped panels of edge-lit Corian® in glacier white which take their geometric cues from the existing forms of the high level glazing externally. The tessellated patterning of Corian® to the lift core helps express the volume of the existing lobby space and provides a contrast against the dark timber clad tunnel which provides access to the lifts.
Corian® was chosen for the project due to its thermoformable qualities and its ability to be moulded into tessellated panels for the lift core. It was also important that the material selected for the project was suitable for a public space and could be repaired if necessary helping ensure that the interior remained in good condition for years to come.
Corian® was also used as the benchtop of the concierge desk to tie back in with the materiality of the lift core. Corian® also was suitable due to its seamless nature and ability to conceal panel joints.
According to Taylor Robinson, ''The versatility and practicality of Corian® allowed us to achieve all our aesthetic and functional objectives. A great result.''
Congratulations to the team at Taylor Robinson for an outstanding design!

Congratulations to Alexandra Morris and Lorena Selvatico from the forward-thinking creative studio – Morris Selvatico. Located in Sydney, Morris Selvatico specialises in retail and hospitality interiors.
Their winning design is the new Indian food retailer at Westfield’s Sydney level 5 food court - 9 Mary’s, an eatery serving up a range of North Indian cuisine.
The design objective for this project was to create a contemporary look inspired by traditional Indian patterns, colours and architecture. Decorative terracotta wall friezes inspired the menu boards while the pattern of the laser cut Corian® benchtop was influenced by the shape of Indian temples.
Morris Selvatico originally looked at specifying stone for the bench top but soon realized that it would be too difficult to achieve the intricate laser cut detail on a large curve. The stone would have had to be faceted to form the curve required. DuPont Corian® was the perfect seamless material that could be laser cut and formed to match the curved lease line. The endless design possibilities of Corian® delivered the desired solution to the design team and most importantly to the client – 9 Mary’s.
According to Alexandra Morris, “Corian® Burled Beach was the perfect material to achieve an intricate laser cut pattern while maintaining a completely seamless look along a 14 metre radius curved bench top surface”
Congratulations to the Morris Selvatico team for this striking and creative design.

This award-winner boasts stacks of hidden features
When a kitchen takes out an award for good design, you know it’s going to be a winner. Designed by Liam Murphy and built by Art of Kitchens, this clever creation took home the gong in the residential category of the 2011 Corian® Design Awards, edition 2.
And when you first step into this stunning display kitchen, it’s immediately obvious that this is much more than your average kitchen. “We wanted the kitchen to look like furniture,” says Liam Murphy from Art of Kitchens, “We wanted it to be totally integrated but loaded with lots of hidden features that would have a ‘wow’ factor when revealed.”
This intelligent kitchen certainly conceals plenty of handy inclusions, making it an incredibly practical cooking space. The wall cabinets feature Blum lift-up electric doors, while all cabinets have coloured internals for a funky look. LED down lighting in all cupboards and LED strip lighting in all drawers means it’s always easy to find exactly what you’re looking for.
The island bench is the centrepiece of the space and has been designed to look like a table with Corian® fronted drawers. This innovative look is sure to attract plenty of admiring glances and adds a unique and sophisticated touch to the area. The use of Corian® allows for a much larger amount of bench space without any noticeable joins, creating a smooth and seamless look. The Corian® bench also highlights the timber veneer legs, another impressive visual feature of the space. Add a moulded Corian® splashback, Corian® integrated sink and an array of state-of-the-art European appliances to the list of inclusions and you’ve got a kitchen that packs plenty of punch.
This space is a magnificent demonstration of what can be achieved with clever planning and design. With so many hidden features and intelligent additions, there’s a lot to love about this kitchen.

Congratulations to Melbourne based Carabott Holt Architects. The Thales Casia Innovation Laboratory project showcases the endless design possibilities of Corian®, delivering fluidity, curves and smoothness.
This project comprises the interior fitout of the existing atrium space in the World Trade Centre incorporating the company’s new branding. It integrates an innovation laboratory to showcase CASIA product (high technology products and services for air traffic management and defence logistics), flexible training rooms, a gallery and workspace. The fitout takes you on a journey around the world following a virtual flight path demonstrating the company’s expertise and infrastructure to develop and deliver complex systems that push the boundaries of technological excellence.
Three sculptural pieces respond to the increasing volume of space that are influenced by the curves and lines of an aircraft. The smallest of these is a multifunctional piece. At any given moment, this piece can be converted from a seat, to a table or a display position. The central piece is the point at which presentations on the ‘Digital Wall’ can be controlled with computer screen lifting out of the corian table by a remote control function. The largest sculptural piece accommodates workstations that are used for daily development and training. All three pieces are ergonomically designed, meeting the differing functional requirements of the brief.
According to CH Architects, Corian® was the perfect material to push the boundaries of the form, creating fluid curves and lines from every angle, seamless joins. The three pieces are a major part of the fit out as they sit proudly and central in the room, taking the client on a journey a hi tech fit out representing the companies cutting edge technology. The practicality of Corian is also of relevance as the pieces are used daily.

Open up to this contemporary Balinese-inspired kitchen
Although the kitchen of this Queensland home had windows looking out to the beautiful view, awkwardly placed appliance cupboards and unsightly window frames made it feel like you were looking through a tiny peephole to the world outside.
So, Mark Gacesa of Ultraspace worked on a design that would open up the entire space and make the kitchen appear much larger without taking up more room. Structurally, many internal walls were removed and the entire kitchen configuration reshaped. New beams and posts had to be concealed and made to appear part of the design.
Big changes were also made externally, with the downward pitched overhang of the roof removed around the entire width of the house and a new larger structure erected over the existing roof. As well as opening up the amazing views, these improvements satisfied the owners’ wish for open-plan living, and a more efficient and attractive area for entertaining.
The old u-shaped design with its small centre island lapped up the stylish makeover, and now two Corian® benchtops are the stars of the show – and a favourite of any guest chef that caters for the owner’s many dinner parties. Mirrored surfaces sneakily disguise unwanted protrusions and clever use of hidden doors sees one opening up to a massive walk in pantry and another to the laundry. The outer kitchen wall also fully retracts, eliminating any divide between inside and out.
Certain design themes and materials were used throughout the home for continuity which helped to tie in the new kitchen with existing architecture. Corian® Clam Shell was a perfect fit for the benchtops, their thick, slab-look blending with the travertine effects used on surrounding floors and columns. A bamboo leaf motif was derived from an original wrought iron gate at the main entrance and is used in custom light boxes in both the kitchen and main ensuite. Taking inspiration once again from the outdoors, crazy pave stone cladding offers a change of texture in the kitchen, linking with exterior columns and walls in the large al fresco entertaining area.
